2016-03-30 DataExpert Forensic Magicube was deployed as a cybersecurity tools in CSA (Cyber Security Agency) Singapore. 22 March 2016 – The Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) today mounted its first multi-sector exercise, Exercise Cyber Star. The exercise comprises a series of scenario planning sessions, workshops and table-top discussions focusing on cyber incident management processes. The final exercise today brought together over 100 participants, comprising sector leads and Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) owners from four sectors, namely Banking and Finance, Government, Energy and Infocomm. The exercise scenario covered different types of cyber-attacks including web defacement, wide-spread data exfiltration malware infections, large-scale DDoS attacks and cyber-physical attack.

The conduct of Exercise Cyber Star is an operational milestone for the Agency, which marks its first year of operations on 1 April 2016. Aside from strengthening sector capabilities through work-up trainings and the establishment of a framework for workflows and processes, CSA has also established a Cyber Forensics Laboratory which is equipped to provide investigative forensic support to Critical Infrastructure Information sectors.

Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security, Mr Teo Chee Hean visited Exercise Cyber Star, where he observed and interacted with exercise participants. He was accompanied by Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-in-Charge of Cyber Security, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim. DPM Teo was also given a tour of CSA’s new Cyber Forensics Laboratory.

Mr David Koh, Chief Executive, CSA, said, “Exercise Cyber Star marks an important operational milestone for CSA as we reach our one year mark. The exercise provided an opportunity for sectors to understand each other’s processes and capabilities and allow us to validate the effectiveness of cross-sector cooperation. This cooperation is essential to strengthen our ability to deal with increasingly sophisticated cyber-attacks.”
